B is for BAM Winter Extravaganza Swap

The B is for BAM Swap is the theme of our Winter Extravaganza Swap. The holiday season and officer gift time is also racing at breakneck speed towards us. It isn't too early and there are a lot of gifts to make so it is time to get started. If you don't have your swap partner yet, take a look at some of the ideas below so you can check out tutorials that seem interesting and be ready to start creating as soon as you get your swap partner. You can also test out patterns so you can avoid the duds when it comes to making a fabulous swap gift.

The following list contains a few ideas. Ideas for projects were originally exchanged at the September 2015 meeting. Your editor has expanded on that list over the past few years.Where patterns are listed, it is for ease of use. Patterns have not necessarily been tested. Also, there may be other patterns and tutorials out in the blogosphere that are just as good or better. Not all patterns listed below are free.  The guild, generally, has no affiliation with the sites or vendors listed.

Please insert 'beautiful' or 'bright' or 'brilliant' in front of each listing. ;-)

Destash Party in October

It's that time again, time to start preparing for the Destash Party, or Restash, depending on your perspective!  One of our popular BAM events, this is a chance to get rid of fabric, tools, notions, books, and other crafty supplies you no longer use or need. As a bonus you go home with all new ones!

Start cleaning out your current stash and gathering up items you want to rehome, because at our October 2018 meeting we will set it all out by type and those who brought items will get first dibs.  As always, anything left over after the initial grabbing, pushing, shoving and general mayhem will be up for grabs to anyone in attendance at the meeting with slightly less mayhem.

Anything not taken by the end of the meeting will be donated or cut up for cat beds, so no waste and you go home with new fun stuff to play with!
So start cleaning!

March Meeting is Next Saturday

The BAM March Meeting is next Saturday, March 17th at the Redwood City Public Library

Image result for happy st patricks day

That means you have 9 days to plan your green outfit and finish something for show and tell.

Also, Challenge #4 from Claire and Helen will be due at the March meeting. Do you have your project made with something that started out as something else for the final scrappy challenge?

recology-6x4-b-web.jpg

If you were at the January meeting, the photos above should jog your memory of Helen's
presentation.

Whether you're a fan of Shovelhead's underwear quilt or Sherri Lynn Wood's Make-Do philosophy there should be some interesting challenge pieces at the March Meeting.

Meetings start at 1pm, usually end by 3pm and we get to stay and sew until 5pm when the library closes.

See you there!

February Meeting Tomorrow in Redwood City!

Come One, Come All to the next BAM meeting!

February Meeting: 02/17/2018

Redwood City Library, Community Room
1044 Middlefield Road
Redwood City, CA 94063
1pm - 3:30pm Meeting
3:30 - 5pm Stay and Sew

Things to know before you go:
  • There will be a question of the Day. You get to stand up and speak your mind about whatever quilty quandary comes up.
  • Bring Snacks and an appetite. One is good. Both is better. Last meeting, the crowd favorites were homemade apple bread and Rugelach (yes, homemade rugelach). It is girl scout cookie season, so if you can't trust yourself with a whole box of thin mints, why not share them with your fellow quilters?
  • Show and Tell is the best part of the meeting, so show 'em it you got 'em. And just like in middle school, I will be sitting shyly in the back waiting for the day when I have something to show. I keep reminding myself that we all become quilters at our own pace *sigh* there's always next month.
  • There is no "Color My Quilt" due this month nor is there a challenge due, so fellow sewing slackers can come to the meeting with a clear conscience...unless they haven't paid their 2018 guild dues.
